What is Relationship and Life Coaching?

Coaching provides support to those struggling with making changes needed to meet their goals. A coach is not a therapist but is someone with experience in helping clients overcome challenges and make changes in their lives to meet goals, find happiness, and self-fulfillment. By identifying clients’ strengths and obstacles, an action plan can be created. This allows a coach to help guide clients to their desired outcomes.

  • Coaching can be valuable for those who are focused on achieving a specific goal.

  • Coaching allows for greater access during the coaching relationship than is typically received in traditional therapy.

  • Coaching is done through discussion, education, role-playing, behavior modeling, and other forms of direction to help clients meet their desired outcomes.

Coaching is not the same as therapy, as therapy focuses more on the mental health side and stabilization, as well as working toward goas and skill development. It is important to understand that a due to training, a therapist can act as a coach, but a coach cannot act as a therapist.
